If there is one place where comedians gain mainstream notoriety, it is on Saturday Night Live. Rob Schneider, Tim Meadows and Jon Lovitz are three examples; and all three are coming to the Fallsview Casino in February 2016.
This article focusses on the head liner of the February 26th A Night of Comedy Show, Rob Schneider.
Jack of All Trades
While Rob is known primarily as an actor, he is also a screenwriter, comedian and director. He has had a long career in comedy and acting, which is due to the relationships that he has built with other comedians and producers throughout the years. He is good friends with Adam Sandler, Chris Rock and David Spade. His style of humour is different and is known for being a bit self-deprecating. The one common theme in many of his roles is that he is the butt of the joke, and this is often times what keeps audiences laughing. His funny persona is what has helped to propel him to fame in the film industry. It was during his time as a writer for Saturday Night Live that he started seriously entertaining the thought of pursuing a career in film.
Roles in Film
Once he got his start on SNL and discovered that he had a talent for acting beyond just comedy writing, Rob quickly started to get roles in popular films during the late 1990’s. It was his roles in
- The Waterboy
- Big Daddy
- Deuce Bigalo: Male Gigolo that are the most notable.
These are films that are known by many to be cult classics and are still popular to this day. Before his roles in film and his start on SNL, Rob began as a comedian and quickly gained a lot of recognition. When he was first discovered for SNL he was opening as a stand-up comedy act for Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld.
