Niagara Falls Museum Winter Movie Series

The Niagara Falls Museum, located approximately 10 minutes from our hotel, presents: Winter Movie Series, a collection of free movies shown on a bi-weekly basis based upon a theme.

The 2016 Winter season’s theme is Water--- from fictional movies with Water as a main theme to illuminating documentaries on the current state of water supplies throughout the world. This themed event takes place bi-weekly beginning January 14th and concluding March 24th, 2016 at 7pm

Chinatown January 14th

Long considered an all-time Classic, Chinatown stars Jack Nicholson as a detective trying to cut through multiple layers of corruption and deceit in a town battling for water rights. Set in 1930’s California, this film won the Best Picture Award in 1974.

Water January 28th

Nominated for a 2007 International Academy Award for Best Picture, Water is about a colonial rules, differing rules, cultural norms and the strife that they can sometimes cause.

Waterlife – Documentary February 11th

This documentary focusses on the large water supply from the Great Lakes to the Atlantic ocean, potential issues that can arise, ownership and sustainability.

The Water Diviner February 25th

Staring academy award winner Russell Crowe, the Water Diviner is an Australian movie about a father going to great lengths to find his three missing sons, each of whom has gone missing following a Turkish war, the Battle of Gallipoli.

Water for Elephants March 10th

This 2011 film starring Twilights Robert Pattison and Reese Witherspoon takes place during the Great Depression, about a circus doctor, a tyrannical circus owner and his wife.

Red River – Staring John Wayne March 24th

This classic film, directed by Howard Hawks, is about crossing the Red River, forging across new terrain and finding a new life in frontier American.
