Connick Jr. has been drawn to music from a very young and even began playing the piano at just three years old. At the age of ten, Harry was playing in public with a local Jazz band and even studied jazz academically at Loyola University. His big break in the music and acting industry occurred when he was approached to provide the soundtrack to his film When Harry Met Sally. Connick Jr. achieved such success with this soundtrack that he even won a Grammy for Best Jazz Male Vocal Performance.
Harry Connick Jr. had a lot of success early on in his career with his jazz stylings, and he quickly decided to change up his sound. In the middle 1990’s Harry decided to branch out to funk. His release of the album “She” introduced his new sound to audiences and was the start of New Orleans funk music. This album went Platinum and even features his most popular single to date entitled “Whisper Your Name“, which was also featured on the soundtrack for Jim Carrey’s popular film The Mask.
In 2009 he stepped away from the big and small screens to delve back into his first love of music. His album “Your Song” was released to critical acclaim and features many hits. With both pop and jazz influence, Connick Jr. has a very specific sound that excites audiences and pleases crowds.
He has decided to step back into the spotlight and begin touring again after much time away from the stage. His love of music was reignited during his stint on American Idol. Introducing his sound to new fans and entertaining crowds with his jazz infused vocals is his biggest passion.
