It’s that time of the year when artisans, food vendors and entertainers converge at the Ball’s Falls Conservation Area for the Ball’s Falls Thanksgiving Festival. It will be held from October 6 to 9, 2017, between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. An annual thanksgiving tradition since 1975, the festival held at Jordan, Lincoln, is a popular attraction for locals and visitors. At the beginning, it was just a simple craft show but has now evolved to become a major festival. The proceeds from the admission to the festival go towards a good cause. Funds will be used to support conservation projects helmed by the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority.
Ball’s Falls Conservation Area is a beautiful area consisting of a lush landscape, the stunning Ball’s waterfalls, fabulous trails for hiking, and a historic 19th century hamlet. The scenic setting provides a wonderful backdrop to the festival. Open for all ages, this year’s event has more than 150 artisans who will display and sell their amazing products.
Food and other edibles, fashion jewelry and accessories, home décor, clothing, fabric and textiles, ceramics, woodwork and candles are just some of the wonderful booths that you can visit at the festival. Artisans from all over Ontario will set up their products for exhibition and sale. It’s a great opportunity to see the variety of merchandise, all in one location and purchase things you may not get easily otherwise.
You can also explore the Farmer’s Market that will have the best of Niagara’s farm produce as well as VQA wines from the wineries of the region. In between all the activities and scouting for wonderful products, you can also relax at the food court that will offer a range of delicious food and drinks. There are several activities for the entire family. Inflatables for children as well as pony rides and face painting are some of the fun things to do during the festival. Live entertainment and music with some amazing local bands will take place at the venue. You can also explore the hamlet with its 19th century structures including the Ball family home, mills, blacksmith shop and more.
Tickets for the 4-day festival are priced at $6 per person. On Friday, seniors aged 65+ can get a discounted ticket at $4. The festival offers free admission to children under 14 if they are accompanied by an adult. Parking is free as are the transportation golf carts and shuttle services.
