With weather hitting near all-time highs, Things are heating up this June in Niagara Falls. This month sees the continuation of Fireworks Displays, the beginning of extended summer hours at numerous attractions, outdoor concerts at wineries and a few extra surprises.
Things to do this June in Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls Fireworks take place at least three times a week during the month of June, on each Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evening at 10 pm. As a bonus, from 8 pm – 10 pm on Friday and Sunday evenings before Fireworks, free concerts take place. These are family friendly affairs, taking place at the base of the illumination stage near Queen Victoria Park. Arrive early, enjoy the sights, sounds, and music around the Falls before the big Fireworks show at 10 pm.
The 2016 season of the Shaw Festival is in full bloom, as all three headline performances take place at the Festival Theatre throughout the month of the June. This year’s top plays include:
- Alice in Wonderland
- Sweeney Todd
- A Woman of No Importance
The Fallsview Casino will host two longer residencies in June. The first is Lord of the Dance, a renowned dance & musical performance known the world over. The second is later in the month, The Million Dollar Quartet, a musical recreating one faithful day in 1955 when music icons Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins.
The Casino is also hosting concerts, within standouts including the all-time musical icon Smokey Robinson and upcoming soul & rock musician Gavin DeGraw.
Annual Hydrangea Show runs until June 10th. It will then be replaced for the remainder of the month by the Regal Geranium Showcase. Admission is just $5 per adult and is within close walking distance of our hotel and Niagara Falls.
Major Niagara Falls Attractions also begin regular summer hours in June. For example, Journey Behind the Falls is now open from 9 am to 10 pm on Friday and Saturdays. Attractions throughout town feature these extended hours, including the Fallsview Waterpark.
Jackson-Triggs Summer Concert Series
Jackson-Triggs popular Summer Concert Series kicks off in June. This annual tradition is a favourite amongst locals and tourists alike. The series has a unique Canadian Flair, as all performs originate from Canada. This month Sam Roberts Band, Steven Page (former lead singer of Barenaked Ladies) and Whitehorse will perform.
Niagara Falls Comic Con
This once small regional Comic Con has turned into one of the largest in Canada, perhaps only rivalled by events held in Toronto and Calgary. This year’s headline guests include Kevin Smith, Tomy Payne, Lou Ferrigno and Kevin Dillon. The event takes places June 3 – 5th at the Scotiabank Convention Centre, located just steps from the Marriott on the Falls hotel.
Niagara New Vintage Festival
The Niagara New Vintage Festival is a chance to celebrate recently released vintages and past classics, all expertly paired with food. The event allows pass holders to sample wine & food pairings across a number of the top wineries in the region.
