Things to do this May in Niagara

As the school year begins to wind down, Niagara Falls heats up. Fireworks, food truck festivals, wine tastings with paired grilled food and other various events fill the Niagara Falls events calendar for May 2016.

Things to do: May 2016 in Niagara Falls

Fireworks have finally returned! Niagara Parks has released the 2016 Niagara Falls Fireworks schedule and it now includes performances three days a week—Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Fireworks also take place throughout the May long weekend, including a special presentation on Monday, May 23rd.

Displays start at 10:00 pm and typically last 15 – 20 minutes. Great viewing locations can be found along the Niagara Parkway, in Queen Victoria Park, on Milestones Fallsview Restaurant or from the comfort of a Marriott on the Falls Fallsview Room.

Coca-Cola Concerts

In conjunction with fireworks, there will be concerts near Queen Victoria Park from 8 pm – 10 pm on all Friday, Sunday and Holiday fireworks evenings beginning on May 20th. These free concerts feature some of Niagara’s best local bands playing classic rock cover songs and feel good sounds.

Fallsview Casino Presentations

This month the Fallsview Casino presents a unique variety of entertainment to cater to fans of various genres. Appearing this month is internationally renowned Ventriloquist Jeff Dunham (with his handful of colourful characters), Italian themed entertainment I Tenori, rock group 3 Doors Down and dance musical sensation Lord of Dance.

Sip & Sizzle featuring top Niagara Wineries

One of the year's best culinary & wine events is upon us—Sip & Sizzle. The premise of this event sees top area wineries pair a spring/summer wine with food from the grill. Examples of these unique combinations include:

  • Peller Estates Winery: 2013 Private Reserve Meritage paired with “Smoking Cow” charred beef brisket, harissa-spiced coleslaw and toasted focaccia
  • Inniskillin Wines:2014 Reserve Shiraz-Cabernet paired with Maple smoked beef “carpaccio,” pickled mushrooms and beet salad (gluten and dairy free)

Passes can be purchased separately at our tour desk or as part of a Magnificent Tours Six Stop Sip & Sizzle Tour

Peller Food Truck Eats

A Niagara tradition, Peller Estates Winery is once again hosting Food Truck Eats over the May long weekend. This event features 20 food trucks, famous Peller VQA wine and live entertainment.
