Niagara Falls New Years 2016

Niagara Falls has long been one of the biggest New Years Eve party destinations. New Years Eve 2016 is no exception, but with one new wrinkle added for this years festivity.

There’s always a lot going on in Niagara during New Years. The Winter Festival of Lights complements the festive atmosphere with decorative lights and iconic displays in public areas throughout the city: this is the 33rd lights festival and the 5km long ‘Let it Glow’ display sets the mood from the top of Clifton Hill, through Queen Victoria Park down to Dufferin Islands.

Queen Victoria Park, the strip of open public land near the edge of the Niagara River, is also the location for the main New Year’s Eve celebrations. A free large scale concert, which is free, will take place.

2016 Niagara Falls New Years Concert

Acts confirmed for the concert include:

  • Tom Cochrane (known for hits like ‘Life is a highway’) and his band Red Rider as the headlining act
  • Dennis DeYoung (former Styx frontman)
  • Alan Doyle (of the classic folk rock band Great Big Sea), performing here with the Beautiful Gypsies
  • Down with Webster, Toronto-based rap rock group

The concert begins in Queen Victoria Park at 8pm. It’s a great central location for both fireworks over the water displays, as well as the place to be for the midnight New Years countdown.

Additional options for NYE include a party in the Lobby Lounge Great Room within the Marriott on the Falls. Guests of the hotel will be able to celebrate new years throughout the night, with drinks at the beginning of the evening, with a live DJ & dancing.
