A quarter of a century ago, Rick Hansen inspired the world with his global Man in Motion tour. Today, his legacy continues with this cross-country relay that is raising awareness and funds for spinal cord injuries.
The 25th Anniversary Rick Hansen Relay began on August 24 in Cape Spear, Newfoundland and Labrador — the easternmost point in North America — and is re-tracing the route of the Canadian segment of the original Man in Motion tour. However, instead of Rick hitting the streets himself, there are 7,000 people from across Canada who have made a difference in the lives of others who will be carrying on the cause.
The tour hits Niagara Falls today at 5 p.m., heading out from the parking lot of the Scotiabank Convention Centre and running through the Fallsview Boulevard tourism district, with medal bearer Dan Bouwman, owner/operator of Heartland Forest.
Following the run, enjoy a live performance by Justin Hines, or cross the street to the Marriott on the Falls for a dinner at Milestone’s Grill + Bar or enjoy a drink in the open-concept lounge in our new Great Room.
Brought to you by the Marriott on the Falls.
