The Rancourt winery sits south-west of Niagara-on-the-Lake, and keeps its focus on combining traditional French winemaking with the strong flavours of wine possible with the unique soil and climate found at the centre of Niagara’s northern region. The estate offers a variety of single-blend reds and whites along with icewine and sweet dessert blends.
Rancourt is a frequent stopover on wine tours for both regular tastings and seasonal events like the Icewine Festival. The estate features a sizable tasting room that can seat 48 people and accommodates private functions on appointment. The estate keeps an old elegance in its aesthetic with lavish boutiques and traditional furnishings. Rancourt accepts walk-ins every day of the week for tastings and tours, and guests are free to roam the 25-acre grounds.
Trained staff conduct tasting demonstrations and explain the estate’s history and methods. Full classes on grape growing and wine production are also hosted in the estate’s upstairs seminar room for groups of enthusiasts. As of this writing Rancourt is Tripadvisor’s #2 ranked winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Wines are paired with tasting platters, especially cheese and charcuterie selections, using produce from local venues to accompany the current vintages. The focus is always on an interactive experience, keeping visitors engaged with the choices of wine and how makes them unique.
