One of the earliest wineries to open in Ontario, the Konzelmann Estate Winery traces its roots to a winery run by the Konzelmann family in Germany in the late 1800s. The family migrated to Canada in 1984 and subsequently sent up the winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Here, they cultivated European Vitis Vinifera grape vines on the property to produce wines. The winery is owned by Herbert and Gudrun Konzelmann who have made it a formidable winery that has 30 different types of wine produced in around 500,000 bottles in a year.
