The winery at Joesph’s Estate, situated just outside of Virgil on the Niagara Peninsula, is a family-run business that has been operating since 1996. The estate has a longer history, and the family has a history of viticultural pioneers that have shaped the winemaking culture in Southern Ontario.
Every small winery worth its salt has a speciality, and at Joseph’s Estate it’s their award-winning icewine.
The icewine selection is an award-winning range, with the Vidal Icewine VQA winning Silver at the 2015 IWSC in London – one of the biggest and most prestigious wine championships in the world. In comes in multiple vintage years, all with their own unique flavour. The icewines and whites are accompanied by a large selection of red wine blends and rosés. Sometimes ‘vintage country’ wines join the pack, which can be a mix of both white and red in sweet varietals.
Joseph’s welcomes guests every day of the week, with dedicated rooms for large group tastings to accommodate walk-ins and bus tour groups alike. Wines served can accompany treats like the signature ‘wine sticks’ made from grape seed flour. The estate has a relaxed atmosphere with a country vibe, and is great for a quick stop-over for great wine and knowledgeable attendants.
