About halfway between Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake, Frogpond Farm has a uniquely rural feel compared to most modern estate wineries, as much a farm as a traditional vineyard. As Ontario’s first fully certified organic winery, the wines on offer are mostly traditional blends crafted using environmentally sustainable practises – no pesticides, unnatural additives or synthetic chemicals. The result is a range of robust wines that have collected awards on occasions such as the Royal Winter Fair.
Vineyard, Farm, Ecosystem
The entire farmyard is an ecosystem onto itself, focused on giving the vines a location to thrive of their own accord. Visitors are given total freedom in self-guided tours, exploring the vineyards and the variety of plant and animal life kept on the property. Tastings are available in the small estate on site and the staff and owners are all too happy to explain their unique wine production and what makes it 100% organic.
Active in the Local Community
The events at Frogpond have more of a local community flavour rather than focusing on food pairings. The estate hosts art galleries with Niagara musicians entertaining while visitors admire local arts and crafts, and the Frogpond stall is a regular sight at farmers’ markets from Niagara-on-the-Lake to the Botanical Gardens.
