The FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre (PAC) recently opened, hosting its first performance in late 2015.
Located in the heart of St. Catharines, the centre is an upgrade from the previous the local Brock Centre of the Arts, which had been the cultural centre of the community for 45 years. The new PAC is meant as an upgrade and spiritual successor to the Brock Centre of the Arts. This new centre has been in planned in one form or another since the 1990s, and is already showing signs that it will benefit the Niagara community: the centre is currently the home of the Niagara Symphony Orchestra, Chorus Niagara and all local performances from Brock University’s Department of Music.
The centre has four venues, the largest – Partridge Hall – seating 775 people. This main venue is for full music performances and orchestral recitals, while the smaller venues scale down to cosier settings for spoken word performances, one-person acts and some video screenings. Already the program for the coming year is filling up, featuring:
Film screenings are also going to be a common feature—an ongoing series of international features, classics and local productions is planned.
The FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre is located only 20 minutes from the Marriott on the Falls Hotel. For more information on our hotel, including package add-ons, view our:
